Our Peacing Ages Together project came to a dramatic close with our Celebration Event, cohosted by Sarah Travers and our very own Sarah McLaughlin, at the Tullyglass House Hotel where nearly 400 participants took their chance to show off what they had achieved together.

From circus skills to fused glass, WW2 exhibitions and contemporary dance the participants, and their invited guests, were overwhelmed by the fun, friendship and new skills on show.

Over the past year, 30 local community groups were connected in 15 partnerships and travelled to visit each other, to meet new friends and try out some new exciting activities together.

The 15 partnerships in the arts, sports, history, ethnic minorities or intergenerational themes clocked up an amazing 390 hours of contact time during the life of the project and thoroughly enjoyed every minute together.

Peacing Ages Together was funded through a partnership with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s European Union’s Peace IV Building Positive Relations Working Group, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

At the event each of the 15 partnerships were interviewed about their experiences throughout the sessions and were all united in praising the project’s ability to create real, long lasting friendships and connections between people who did not know each other before.

Not only have we provided community integration through this project we have helped to combat loneliness and social isolation in our borough whilst creating a new healthy motivation and drive amongst our older people to stand up and be noticed!
